Positive Behaviour for Learning is a Ministry initiative being implemented in schools throughout NZ.
St Martins School began the process of implementing PB4L in 2023. The aim of the programme is to help support whanau, kaiako and akonga to address unexpected behaviours that may occur at school.
PB4L encourages curiosity as to why these behaviours may occur, and then to focus on the skills needed to change behaviour. How this is achieved is by ensuring expectations are clear, that there are good incentives to encourage positive behaviour and that there are restorative, natural and logical consequences.
St Martins School has a PB4L mascot called ‘Albert’. Albert is a grey duck, designed and named by past St Martins School Students to symbolise our school spirit and commitment to our values and positive learning culture.
