Kia ora Whānau – Greetings everyone.
What an amazing day we had on Saturday for the St Martins School Summer Fiesta! The days leading up to the Fiesta were nervous ones as the weather did not seem to want to be our friend – but on the day we awoke to a glorious sunny day.
The school was buzzing with excitement and the grounds were transformed into a fun, fiesta scene. So much hard work has gone into preparing for the Fiesta and there are so many people to thank. The S’Mart Community pulled out all the stops to ensure everything was ready for the day and we can not thank them enough for all their hard work. Then there were all the parents and other family members, school staff and students who helped by donating, delivering notices, setting up, helping on stalls and a huge range of other work both behind the scenes and out there on the day. Thanks to all those who helped with the performances – those on stage and the teachers and tutors who honed their performance skills. And of course it was wonderful to see so many people from the local community and beyond who came to enjoy our Fiesta and see our fantastic school community in action.
The highlight for some was seeing Quinn and Ben from The Block and Ronnie from What Now. The huge swarm of children around them must have been overwhelming. Many autographs were obtained, photos taken and the dunk tank was put to good use! We appreciate Quinn, Ben and Ronnie coming to share the day with us.
The hot weather kept the Sno-Cones and drinks stall very busy and many enjoyed escaping to the cool classroom to purchase their books! All of the stalls looked great and it was good to see happy people with all their purchases and enjoying the tasty treats on offer.
You will see from the Fiesta Newsletter that also went home today that they are looking at a profit of about $26000.00!! What a great result for all the amazing work. The photos are a wonderful reminder of the day that was enjoyed by all. We also thank the many sponsors and endorse the S’Mart Community in asking that you support them if you can as their support really does make a difference.
So a final huge thanks to everyone for helping St Martins School shine on a very sunny and hot Saturday. We appreciate all the effort into making the Fiesta a success. Time now to sit back, relax and give yourselves a pat on the back for the good work done – until the next Fiesta!
Kind regards
